How to Guide

Written for fish from Phishers.

WELCOME

In today's world we are all just fish in the pond of our making. This means it is more important now than ever to know what a fish is and how to catch it. If you don’t know what a fish looks like, how do you know that you yourself are not a fish. As fishers, our main goal is to educate anybody interested in learning about the world of the “fish” and how it is caught.

We also wish to describe that a fish could be anything, and you as a fisher could catch any of these fish at from a multitude of different places. The easiest places to find fish are at beaches. Places where it’s mostly calm and unsuspecting of natural predators. Still lakes in the backwoods always allow for life to flourish.

A final note before you read onto the beginning. We ask while you’re a student of the fishers, you keep a flexible mind and flow with the guidance we give, as fish do downstream. Fishing is not a straightforward pursuit. If you are looking for lures, rods, fishing line, or any other equipment for the process of fishing, please check out (Info for Fish) section.

How to Begin

First Steps:

1. Understand your equipment.

- One of the most important things you can get right, is how you use your equipment. Before you even go out fishing, take apart everything you have and put it back together. Really try and understand what each part does. Try and get a feel for the weight of it, how it moves, what difficulties you are having with it, and especially how you look using it~

- Your equipment only works as well as your understanding of the equipment. You could have a 100 year old rod that barely even reals that catch's you more fish that that new carbon fiber rod.

- Fish can sense the nervousness and avoid anything you try and caste. By knowing your equipment, you can then ask the question, why am I fishing.

2. Understand why you wish to catch a fish.

Everybody has a diffferent reason to caste into the big pond. We all wish to gain something from the real. Some want peace, some want meat, some just want to play the game whichever you are you need to decide. You can’t be asking yourself halfway through a fishing trip, “do I really want to be here?” You want to just be there!

- If you don’t know why you want to fish and you just feel like fishing, than maybe you got to dig a little deeper and ask what makes you want to fish.

- As Rene Descartes ask, “Suppose [a person] had a basket full of apples and, being worried that some of the apples were rotten, wanted to take out the rotten ones to prevent the rot spreading. How would he proceed?” Check them all.

3. Start keeping a dream journal.

- To understand ones self you must dip into your sleeping mind.

- Also knowing what you’re thinking about while you sleep is pretty cool.

4. Find a place where fish swim about.

- Look for places that seem like calm and inviting areas.

- The key is to not disturb the peace.

- Now that you know your equipment and hopefully have a grasp of why you want to fish, you can then focus primarily on the act of fishing and where to fish.

- If you can’t see the signs of fish from above the water, you must get into the water.

5. Swim with the fish.

- The only way to really understand the fish you’re trying to catch, you must dive in and see how they really live.

- Take the time to get to know their habits

- Make friends with them.

- The more information you have on the fish, the easier it is to catch them when they slip up.

6. Find a spot where you can plant your feet.

- There are dangers, and firm footing can save you more than once.

- This goes back to the place you’re fishing in. You’ll probably have to test out the area a few times before you really understand the habitat.

- Once you get used to an area it’s easy to find a sturdy standing or sitting spot for a couple hours.

- The game is about understanding each part, piece by piece, because if the fish senses that slight bit of doubt it will never bite.

7. Cast among the groups, and hope a straggler takes the bait.

- The one’s who get caught are the ones who don’t think they need the group. Once you have caste your lure, decide on how you want to trick the fish.

- Do you want to make your bait look alive? This is depending on the fish in the area that you chose. It will probably trial and error but as you pick and set your lure, you want to make it something that looks appealing, but not too tasty.

- As for the best bait, the bait you choose Is the bait that chooses you. This just means look around for things to use as bait. Flashy lures and trinkets work sometimes but if you give the fish something they don’t expect, or something maybe a little simpler, you might catch them off guard and snag the straggler.

8. Wait...

- You must wait while paying close attention.

- This is where mastery comes in, to be balanced. Focused intently, but as calm as the flat bed.

- This is a step you will always be aiming for but never reach, to be able to perfectly wait.

9. Catch and release

- Once you feel the pull, yank it back. Timing is everything.

- Once you have them hooked they will follow you anywhere just to get that hook out of its’ face. There might be a good amount of struggle, but if you know your equipment, are in a sound state of mind, and have firm footing that fish is caught.

- Please respect the fishes battle, they have a lot against them and to the fish reading this, we hope these steps gave you a better understanding.

- Finally, always follow your state regulations and release anything that doesn’t fit the regulations.

Extra Steps

Always keep in mind:

1. Fish are always better in groups.

2. Fishers are always better alone.

3. But that doesn’t mean all fish that are alone are fishers.

4. But it does mean, watch out for fishers either way.

"piscem natare docem" - "If you have to teach a fish to swim, it was never a fish."

Basically if you don’t know if you’re a fish or not, you’re probably a fish. Natural fishers are individuals who desire the need to fish. They ask, “how do you swim” instead of “how do you fish”. To a fish swimming is being, there really isn’t anything that isn’t swimming. Maybe you are a fish and fishing aren’t something that you want to get caught in? Well, here we wish to provide you with links to information on how to avoid fishers.
